Arrives Monday Afternoon

Dear Miss Wellsley,

I wish to apologize for my appalling behavior at the race the other day.  I cannot excuse it to a combination of drink and holiday cheer.  I am glad that you were not hurt by it and I appreciate the kindness you showed me despite my boorish behavior. I shall look forward to making a better example in your company in the future.

Yours,

George Churchill

She stood by a window reading his note.  An idea springing to mind.

'I wonder ... well it would be interesting ... and he does say he would 'make a better example in my company' and so why should I wait for some far off time when the perfect occasion is already happening ....'

She folded the paper and tapped it aganist her lips as a slow smile bloomed. Her steps were light as she made for her rooms there to think upon what best to wear.
