To Nicolette Vauquelin | delivered Monday afternoon

Recommended Posts

When Anne-Elisabeth returned from the Orangery, Sir John’s letter was waiting for her. Pulling out a piece of parchment and clearing a space on a desk cluttered with epic outlines and star charts, she wrote to Nicci.

Quote

Dearest Nicci,

Sir John Burgoyne will be at the Little Park tomorrow at ten in the morning. I will give you about fifteen minutes before I show up pretending to be late. If you think you will need more time than that, then just let me know.

Sincerely,

Anne-Elisabeth

P. S. Please burn this note after you read it so that there is no chance that anyone will see it and tell him that I tricked him.

After sealing it, she gave it to Bess to deliver immediately.
