Douglas FitzJames
This will be updated as plots progress and new plots emerge. Find a Wife Being illegitimate, most of the young ladies at court are not available to him, but he might find a daughter of a wealthy merchant or a good family down on their luck. He will keep an eye out for possibilities. * Spoke to Bridget Osborne at the opening function. She is being cared for by her mother's brother, the Earl of Lindsay. * Reconnected with Ellen Doolittle at the Yacht Race. Make more Friends and fewer Enemies Douglas's strength has always been his friends and connections. * Reconnected with Mountjoy and enjoyed reminiscing about hunting * Met James O'Neill in the book store and amused him with a quick rhyme. Played wingman for him with Lily von Seitz. * Met Henry Grey at the Hen's Toes and shared a drink. Suggested Cumberland's forge and how to approach him. * Enjoyed reconnecting with Duncan Melville who is back at court following the very sad death of his wife, Ophelia Melville nee Doolittle. Acquire more lands, probably Baronies * Baronies in Scotland, whilst inheritable, are also transferable so can be purchased. Douglas could gain more land and titles by buying feudal Scottish baronies. * Lands without titles can be purchased. Whilst a title brings prestige, estates bring money. Get Rich Money can sometimes open doors that even birth can't, if not for him then for his future heir, and it can certainly lead to a more comfortable life. * Founding the Highland Trading Company together with Ellen Doolittle. Sort out Fiona His half-sister Fiona, always a wild one, is now in a bad situation with a stalker who might be trying to kill her. Also still unwed and probably sleeping with half of court. * Find out who has been threatening her and deal with them - Done! Most likely Lady Lauderdale, and the Duke will put a stop to it. ** The latest attempt resulted from a note handed to her by someone who looked like a soldier. * Get Whitehurst to either marry her or stay away from her. - Fail. He's still shagging her. * Found out that she is Lauderdale's secret mistress! Acquire some sort of house in London Something of his own, so he isn't either bunking with the Life Guards, in the Red Lion or living with his sisters. Build a manor house on his estate. Dundarg only came with a ruined castle. Much as he'd love to rebuild it, it would be far more practical to build a more modern manor house, and far more comfortable to live in. * Lauderdale offered the use of his architect to draught plans when Douglas approached him offering service. Find a Patron * Douglas approached Lauderdale, offering his service. * Lauderdale offered to pay for an architect to draw up plans for a manor house on Dundarg. * Douglas spoke to Lauderdale about Fiona and arranged a clandestine meeting.
