Defiance
The Privy Gallery extended from the passage over the Holbein Gate, past the Privy Garden, and into the main rooms of the Palace, including the Council Chamber. It was warmed with fireplaces spaced periodically along with wide hallway. Windows looked down into the Privy Garden and chairs were placed discreetly at intervals near the fireplaces for those in need of a brief rest and a little warmth. Two gentlemen who seemed to be in their thirties stood talking whilst looking out one of the windows into the Privy Garden. A great laugh came from the taller of the two. Both were richly dressed in brocade and velvet. Were they looking at something below through the window? They had picked an intelligent spot for there was a fireplace behind them.
