Louise de Kérouaille

Full Name: Louise de Kérouaille

Nationality: French

Title: Duchess of Portsmouth

Age: 27 (b. 1649)

Gender: Female

Eye Color: Blue

Hair Color: Blonde

Marital Status: Single

Physical Attributes and Personality

A blond voluptuous woman, who was described as chubby, hence the nickname "Fubs" which Charles II used for her.

Is known by some as "The Weeping Willow," referring to her being extremely emotional.

Background

One of the King's mistresses. She is widely scorned for being French, Catholic, and being prideful about both. She bore the King a son in 1672, that she named after him, who was made Duke of Richmond in 1675.

Up and down the fortunes of Portsmouth go. After falling out of favour because of the ascendancy of Catriona MacGregor, Louise briefly came back as a favourite because the King sought her arms when his baby boy died. Hortense Mancini had already arrived however, making Louise no more certain of her position with Christmas. She is of course attending in Windsor, having one of the largest apartments.

(Fudge information: In our game Louise is blond. There is conflicting information on this and historical research shows she was most likely brown haired. The series The Last King probably contributed to the confusion.)

Saint George's Day Awards, 1676

Received a Medals of Charity for her tireless work with Memorial Gardens

Residence

In London, she has a suite in Whitehall Palace. Due to the queen's insistence that the royal mistresses leave London, she now resides in Chelsea (as of Spring 1677).
