Blackguard

Sunday May 9th

"Praise God Father," the boy exclaimed as the ship docked outside of London. The crew was busy casting ropes to secure the ship so the cargo and passengers could be unload.

"Praise God indeed," came the reply from the serious looking man of about thirty years. "Remember Michael, now that we are in England, you should no longer call me Father John. You should call me John Digby.."

"Yes Father John," came the reply, too late to recant.

With a creak of the gangplank, the way was clear to disembark. Arrangements were made for a sailor to tote the travel trunk to a nearby cart. Transacting business, the man and boy climbed aboard the cart. "Take me to the home of George Digby, the Earl of Bristol."
