Blackguard
Masks and costumes can take many forms and colors. There are masks on sticks, which are held in front of the courtier. These courtiers will be easy to identify unless they have a tireless arm and never allow someone to gain a peek. The next category is a mask that covers the eyes only. There may or may not be a costume as well. Then, there is the full mask: Usually there is a hole cut in the mouthpiece, or no one could hear this person. Typically, the older courtiers prefer something more simple and do little to disguise themselves. Their more mature body shapes could give them away. It is usually the younger set or those looking for liaisons or trying to win a bet that go to greater lengths to hide their identity. We have decided not to create separate logins for each PC. You will use your regular log in but you will start each post, while in costume, with a description of your costume. A player may not assume that they can identify another PC that is attempting a meaningful disguise. They will need moderator permission by convincing the moderator as to why they would know the identity. NPCs will have costume descriptions as well. Be aware that there my be random NPCs that may be minor characters floating about. So, do not assume that every NPC played by a moderator is an important gentleman or lady. Blackguard
We should try to come up with a name for each costumed person, including PCs so that we can better reference which courtier you approach. Here's who we have so far (PCs noted with an asterisk): Ladies: Striped outfit lady (Rainbow?) Valkyre Queen Guenevere Selene Sea Nymph Persephone Eleanor of Aquitaine Dragon Lady Dove and Stag (male escort) Lady Ivy* Astraea* Queen of Hearts* Innocence* Phoenix* Gentlemen: Owl Gold Falcon Unicorn Blue gold mask Flame mask Peacock Wolf Crusader Philosopher Dragon The Imposter (cross dress?) The Doctor* The Templar Knight* The Purple Knight* Gentleman with wolf head cane* Highwayman/Blackguard* King of Hearts* Unknown: Ghost in a sheet
Duncan Melville
Please forgive my infringing the do not assume you can identify another PC rule. My mind slipped. I would have corrected it, but others have posted in the thread. Mea maxima culpa. I will accept any punishment deemed appropriate.
Blackguard
Some points to consider 1) Duncan is the Templar Knight, not the Crusader. There is a separate Crusader with a red cross, as opposed to a Templar cross. 2) You do not need to wait for multiple people to post before replying. 3) If you want to hyper-post, create a side tread at the masque. That way the two of you can post a dozen times back and forth without disrupting the main thread. If in doubt, create a side thread. The main thread is for moving around, meeting people and chatting several posts back and forth. Label in the heading "Masque Side Thread" with the name of the characters involved. 4) Each dance with have a side thread. It will not last long, affording the dancers to talk a few times before the dance ends and they return to the main thread. This is done to keep the night moving. All participants in the dance thread will use the same dance thread. There will be three dances. The second one will be ladies choice. Assume there is about 30 minutes between dances, so the third and last dance will be fairly late in the evening and many courtiers will start departing. Romancing conversations are likely to continue and lead to side threads. Anyone enjoying punch between dances is likely to be a bit tipsy by the third dance. Regular drinking will lead to inebriation by the end of the third dance unless the character can handle their liquor.
