To Your most graceful Majesty
Queen Karoline

Does your servant James Winchester send greetings.

Your Majesty, I would apologise for my tardiness in arriving at Windsor, however I am now present and residing at the Hen's Toes inn. I wish to assure you that I am available to you, and our most celebrated Prince, at any time of the day or night, should you have need of me.

Your Obedient Servant,

Sir James, Doctor Winchester
Royal Physician

James left the 'Baron Wentwood' off his signature, unable to face that particular title right now. He'd been Baron Wentwood so that Noni could be a Baroness, he knew. And he was glad of it, for her sake. But right now his factor could take care of the estate. James needed to be what he'd always been; Doctor Winchester.

He had of course written to Their Majesties to inform them of the deaths of his beloved wife and daughter; Noni was a cousin of Charles Rex so it was his duty to do so. He'd gone through the necessary motions, sending letters to those who needed to know; even the Duchess of Savoy.

The letters had included details of the funeral, though of course most would not reach their destinations until after it had taken place. James's family had been there; his parents, brother and sisters and his elder sister's family. He could see it so clearly in his mind's eye. An appropriately dreary overcast. A cold wind. He'd buried Noni and Rachelle together in the one coffin, so they'd be forever in each other's arms. He'd barely even heard the pastor's words. There was a temporary marker on the grave now, but he'd commissions a statue, a Madonna and Child, as their tombstone. He'd said to the mason 'and give them wings'. His angels, now truly angels.

James frowned and quickly folded the letter before suspicious drops of water stained the paper.
